SERVICES
Assessments are always complimentary and can be booked using the Contact Form below. Repairs are usually booked a minimum of 4 weeks in advance; however, minor repairs can usually be handled during assessment appointments. Please contact us in advance to book your instrument for a repair or annual "Clean, Oil, and Adjust" as wait times fluctuate throughout the year.
PLEASE NOTE: if you are in need of an emergency repair, please TEXT [or email] us immediately at 416-463-9461. Emergency repairs do not include maintenance, cosmetic work, or upgrading mechanisms and are evaluated on a case by case basis.
Flute COA: Clean, Oil, Adjust
Starting at $285
Clean: disassemble [including unpinning the stacks], remove all old oil, clean and polish the body and keys
Oil: re-oil the mechanism and re-assemble
Adjust: adjust the mechanism so that keys operate together properly
This service is like an oil change on a car. The oil on a flute doesn't just lubricate the mechanism, it protects it. When the oil degrades, the lack of enough oil, or contamination in the oil, can lead to mechanical degradation and additional repair costs

Emergency Work
Starting at
$150/hour
Emergency repairs include only what is necessary to bring the instrument back to proper playing condition. Any maintenance work, cosmetic work, or upgrades would have to wait. Weekday emergency work is charged as time and a half, $150.00/hour, plus the cost of parts. Weekend & Holiday emergency work is charged as double time, $200.00/hour, plus the cost of parts. All prices are subject to HST.
Appraisals
Starting at $50
Most insurance companies simply require a quote for the replacement cost, which you can get from a retailer or the manufacturer. Some of the manufacturers have a hyperlink for appraisals on their websites. If your model is no longer in production, a quote from a retailer or the manufacturer for a current model with the same features and material without downgrading any features will be acceptable.
If your insurance company requires a third party appraisal, or if your instrument is no longer in production, simple appraisals start at $50.00+HST. More complicated appraisals can go up to $100.00+HST.
Student Flutes
please book an assessment
Found an old flute in the closet? Looking to get your old high school flute tuned up? Unfortunately, I do not stock student line pads. An overhaul with the most economical pads I carry would be in the $700.00 to $800.00 range. Many local retailers have shops that cater to school band instruments. If you would like to have your flute repaired for sentimental reasons, I would be happy to do so! For referrals to local retailers who specialize in student flute repair, please contact us.

I accept cash, cheques, money orders, and e-transfers. Cheques should be made out to "Jay L. Gemmill" and e-transfers should be sent to: ontarioflutecentre@gmail.com. If a security question is required, I suggest using the serial number off the invoice as the answer to the security question. Alternatively, if your bank requires more characters, use the brand of the flute in all lower case, or brand & serial number, all lower case and no space between.
